GETTING STARTED
So you've just had your STATION-X & Z-RAY's delivered, or you've just been handed some, how do you get going?
HERE ARE 4 STEPS TO WIRELESS DMX HEAVEN (and a couple of optional ones).
You want to see them 'do something' - and that you can control them.
1) Let's assume that what you have could be in any state - but check that you have one STATION-X and at least one Z-RAY.
2) Look at the screen on the Z-RAY - does it show a reasonable battery charge?
(If it's low - plug it in to any USB charger - you can still continue with the instructions here whilst it charges. The red EXTERNAL POWER LED should light, and the green OK/DONE/FAULT led should blink slowly)
3) Now plug your STATION-X into any USB power source. That can be a computer, or a phone charger etc. You should see the amber internal LED's light up.
Turn the big rotary switch to HOUSE.
That's STATION-X completely set up!
4) Now, on your Z-RAY, first press the RESET button - this completely clears all settings.
Now press the RIGHT ARROW → just once.
This sets Z-RAY to DMX mode, and the DMX channel to 001.
Your Z-RAY should immediately connect to your STATION-X.
As your STATION-X is set to HOUSE, Z-RAY should immediately light up.
(also notice the SIGNAL strength indicator and instantaneous signal strength bar-graph)
5) (Optional) - Everyone misses this one - but you can adjust the HOUSE lights on STATION-X.
Look on the sides of your STATION-X - there are 2 finger-slots one side, and 2 more the other - each with a single press button inside the slot.
Press-and-hold these buttons to make adjustments.
The +/- pair (marked on the underside of STATION-X) move the house-lights brightness up and down, whilst the other pair marked ↑/↓ change the colour-temperature of the house lights.
(there's also a 5th reset button next to the input connectors)
6) (Also optional) - Repeat step 4) for any other Z-RAY's you have, whilst also checking their battery charge is ok.
SO NOW YOU KNOW THE SYSTEM WORKS, AND THE BASICS OF OPERATING IT.
NOW HAVE A LOOK AT CONNECTING STATION-X TO A LIGHTING DESK, OR COMPUTER - AND START DOING 'INTERESTING THINGS'!
