Z-RAY CHARGING

Z-RAY can be recharged at any time (Z-RAY may left permanently connected to USB power if this is convenient).

All Z-RAY capabilities are available at all times, regardless of whether it is connected to USB power or not.

Z-RAY uses a very high quality, high-capacity battery.
The internal charging system is matched to this battery.
IT MAY BE DANGEROUS TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT BATTERY.

When Z-RAY is connected to a USB power source, the red EXTERNAL POWER led will light.
When Z-RAY is charging normally the green OK DONE FAULT led will flash slowly.
When Z-RAY has finished charging the green OK DONE FAULT led will be light continuously.
If the green OK DONE FAULT led is off, first try another known-good USB charger, then test the charger with another Z-RAY. If the problem persists, contact Think Radio.

Internally Z-RAY uses a charging system called "dynamic power path".
This means whatever external power is available will first be used to power whatever the current lighting requirements are, and any left-over external power will be used to recharge the battery, if necessary.

Z-RAY is compatible with most USB fast-charging systems.
If connected to a USB fast charger the battery will recharge quickly.
If connected to a USB fast charger there should be enough external power to operate all features of Z-RAY and simultaneously charge the battery.
On a standard non-fast charger, in some cases the power required for lighting may exceed what the charger can deliver, so some additional charge will be drawn from battery.

The power consumed by Z-RAY is almost exactly related to the current light level being output.
Very little power is required by the radio-link, and virtually no power is consumed in STANDBY.

As a very rough estimate, Z-RAY running on battery has sufficient power for an event lasting 6 to 8 hours.
Z-RAY should be recharged after each event.
However it has a high-quality, high-capacity battery - and is very power efficient - so it is quite likely that (should you forget to recharge between events) Z-RAY will last through a second event.
Think Radio strongly advise you not to "push your luck" to a third event without recharging!

Tips for power efficiency:
Either use combinations of red, green and blue to produce the colour you need - or use white (which can be tinted with another colour, e.g. red to produce to a more yellowish-white). Using all of red, green, blue and white to produce a brighter white will impact on battery charge.
You will probably find after an event that some Z-RAY's have consumed more of their battery charge than others. Spreading usage more evenly between Z-RAY's prolongs battery charge.
